Group Challenges
|
These activities are done in teams or small groups made up of 8 - 12 participants. All elements challenge the intellect and motivate groups to succeed with limited resources and time. We aim to solidify relationships and reinforce the power of cooperation at all levels. Communication, interaction, socialization and responsibility are practiced at all activities. There are over 75 different group challenges offered at Diamond Ridge. Some of the more popular ones include: Trolley, Spider’s Web, Pipeline and The Swamp. |

Low Ropes and High Ropes

These activities are designed to:
|
The Low Ropes Course is a series of challenges, some individual and some group, that balance cooperation and competition. “Spotting” is a skill that is taught and practiced as a part of all low ropes activities.
The High Ropes Course is made of single elements throughout the facility. Trust, risk-taking and coaching are emphasized at each element. Participants challenge their own perceived limits in a safe, supportive environment.
Both courses utilize a Challenge by Choice philosophy and encourage each participant to define and share goals and expectations as part of their experience.
Orienteering
Groups learn map reading, compass reading and distance pacing to successfully navigate our orienteering courses to find hidden markers. This activity enables groups to experience the profound shift from working independently to working interdependently to achieve a common goal.
Outdoor Education
The Diamond Ridge Outdoor Education Academy is designed to enhance and enrich classroom learning with outdoor field experiences that increase awareness about the environment.
Watersheds and Wetlands
Students identify various types of water environments. They learn about the water cycle, identify living things in the water, understand the role of a watershed and study the lake.
Interrelationships/Interdependence
Lessons of study include habitats, energy flow, food chains, predator/prey relationships, adaptations and cycles.
Renewable Resources
Activities focus on trees, plants, wildflowers, forest ecology, recycling and understanding the waste stream.
